Courtney Farrow joined us on 1st June as a Digital Content Creator, working on numerous accounts to provide blog writing, social media management and photography. In this Q&A, we find out what makes her tick.
How do you feel now that you've finished your degree at Hull Uni?
Relieved, although a little bit sad that it’s all over. However, I’m looking forward to my future with sobananapenguin!
How has the university experience helped you to grow?
After writing over 20,000 words in the last two months, I think it’s safe to say my History degree helped me to improve my writing style. I’ve also made some great friends and gained a lot of confidence, as well as learnt how to cook and do my own washing… I still can’t iron though!
What are you most looking forward to in your new role at sobananapenguin?
I have always loved writing. Figuring out new ways to craft sentences and use words really interests me. I spend a lot of time on social media, so it’s great that two of my passions have been rolled into one for this job.
What do you get up to in your spare time?
Funnily enough my hobby is something very similar to what I do at sobananapenguin. I write my own blog and spend a lot of time on Twitter and Instagram. Now that I have a little extra spare time, I hope to enjoy photography more. It was one of my main hobbies before I started university but, unfortunately, something that had to take a backseat during my studies.
What are your favourite places in Hull for...
...drinks and cocktails?
I adore anything rum-based, especially piña coladas, so Roots is probably my favourite place to go for cocktails.
Larkin’s Bar and Level are my go-to places for a nice meal, especially when the parents visit.
...chilling out during the day?
My friends and I love a good cuppa, and there’s a sofa we can just about all squeeze onto upstairs in Planet Coffee.
...a scenic walk?
The marina is always gorgeous, especially when there's a nice sunset, but I don’t visit often enough.
...grabbing a bargain or something you love?
I think I might be addicted to online shopping. I rarely buy anything at full price and will dearly miss my student discount!
Which three words would you use to describe yourself?
Awkward, thrifty, rambly.
If you could only choose between a banana or a penguin, which would it be and why?
This is a tricky question. What would I need them for? To eat? A banana of course. For company? Probably a penguin!
