Whether you’re looking for a dazzling show, a hearty meal or maybe just a frothy coffee whilst you appreciate some local art, Hull Truck Theatre has it all. This time we’re taking a look at the best treats they’ve got in store for the end of 2019.
With Christmas less than two months away it’s finally an acceptable time to start getting excited about the festive season, especially Hull Truck's two shows for all the family to enjoy. For older children (and festive parents), Peter Pan brings heartwarming magic from 29th November to 4th January, packed with original music, singing, dancing and flying, all topped off with a generous sprinkling of fairy dust.
For younger kiddos, Truck have again teamed up with local theatremakers The Herd to bring you How to Fly Like a Reindeer. Following their success with last year’s The Ugly Duckling Christmas Special, children aged 2-5 will love this delightful show about a young girl desperately trying to learn how to fly so that she can spend Christmas with her beloved grandma.
If you’ve got a little extra cash left over from your Christmas shop, you can also help underprivileged children in our region by donating to Give the Gift of Theatre. This is a year-round campaign that raises money to help support outreach programmes and schools in the local community. You can give as little as £1 and every penny goes towards ensuring that as many people as possible get to celebrate the festive season by attending a show they might not otherwise have the opportunity to enjoy.
Whether you’re in the building to see a show or not, you can always treat yourself to some top-notch nosh from Shoot The Bull. This award-winning local business joined forces with the theatre in 2018, offering a mouthwatering menu that includes both light bites and high-quality restaurant-style street food, all made from carefully selected ingredients produced by local suppliers.
You can usually enjoy a free art exhibition with your meal too, with the current instalment being a selection from the Brain Jar Art Group, which you can find on the upper foyer. All of the pieces are available to buy, so you’re all sorted if you see something you fancy or think someone might appreciate a unique Christmas present.
With so much to see and do, including the Winter Edition of Hull Jazz Festival from 13th to 16th November, we recommend checking out Hull Truck Theatre’s full brochure here.
